Mr Wallace's health is generally good but in 1975 he was examined by the Principal Medical Officer in the Solomon Islands who diagnosed slight hypertension. An examination in the UK confirmed that he was hypertensive although not severely so, and the Consultant saw no reason why he should not continue to live a full life within any symptons that he may develop.
In March 1977 Mr Wallace was appointed by the Ministry of Overseas Development on secondment from the Treasury, on loan to the British National Service, New Hebrides, under the Technical Co-operation arrangements for a period of one year as an expert on Administrative Reform.
