Exceptionally

Stenographers who:

(i) (a) have at least three years' Government service

as a Stenographer;

(b) have shorthand and typing speeds of 90 w.p.m.

and 50 w.p.m. respectively;

(c) are judged to have potential to supervise and

give on the job training to Typists and Stenographers;

and

(a) pass a competitive examination; and an

interview,

may be considered for appointment to Supervisor of Typing Services or

(ii)(a) have at least three years' Government service a

a Stenographer;

(b) have shorthand and typing speeds of 110 w.p.m.

and 50 w.p.m. respectively; and

(c) pass a competitive in-service examination;

and an interview,

may be considered for appointment to Personal Secretary.

Increments may be granted either on first appointment or during an officer's service as follows:

(a) one additional increment for a shorthand speed

of 110 w.p.m.; and/or

(b) one additional increment for a typing speed of

70 w.p.m.; and/or

(c) one additional increment for having passed 5

subjects including English Language (Syllabus B), Chinese Language, Mathematics and two other approved subjects at Grade E or above in the

Hong Kong Certificate of Education or equivalent.
