(e) the minimum of the pay scale for Personal Secretary

should be one increment higher than the maximum of Stenographer and the maximum should be Point 23;

(f) Personal Secretaries should have promotion

opportunities to Senior Personal Secretary and Supervisor of Typing Services;

(g) incremental credit should be given for

(i) a typing speed of 70 w.p.m. 1 increment;

(ii) a shorthand speed of 130 w.p.m. - 1 increment; (h) appointment to Senior Personal Secretary should be promotion from Personal Secretary, with 5 years service, and direct, for overseas officers, with

(i) passes in FIVE 'O' level subjects in G.C.E.; (ii) a typing speed of 50 w.p.m.;

(iii) a shorthand speed of 110 w.p.m.;

(iv) 5 years approved experience; and,

ability to satisfy standards acceptable to the appropriate U.K. authorities as though it were a U.K. appointment;

(i) duties of Senior Personal Secretary should be :

"Secretarial service either on an individual or shared basis to Directorate Officers on salary points D6 (DJL4) to D9 (DJL6) and to posts designated by the Secretary for the Civil Service, if appropriate on the advice of the Secretary for Security"; (j) the minimum of the pay scale for Senior Personal

Secretary should be one increment higher than the maximum for Personal Secretary and the maximum should be Point 29 (the present maximum) in the light of the PIU survey of the private sector;

(x) Senior Personal Secreteries should have promotion

opportunities to Personal Assistant;

direct entry for overseas officers should be only to posts designated by the Secretary for the Civil Service, who may be advised, if appropriate, by the Secretary for Security.
