(c) appointment should be in-service only from
Stenographer, Personal Secretary and Senior Typist with
(i) 3 years' Government service; (ii) a typing speed of 50 w.p.m.; (iii) a shorthand speed of 90 w.p.m.;
(iv) a pass in a competitive in-service
examination; and,
(v) a successful interview;
(d) duties should be: "Supervision and organisation of the work of Stenographers and/or Typists, and carrying out stenographic and typing duties as required; (Note: it is proposed that the number of Typists and Stenographers supervised shall be not less than 5; normally, they should not exceed 12);
(e) the minimum of the pay scale should be two
increments higher than the minimum of Personal Secretary and the maximum should be three increments higher than the maximum of Personal Secretary;
(f) a trial period of TWO years should be required; (g) Supervisors of Typing Services will have no
direct promotion prospects.
PERSONAL SECRETARY
(a) the grade should have two ranks
J
Personal
Secretary and Senior Personal Secretary;
(b) both ranks should be functional;
(c) appointment to Personal Secretary should be in-
service from Stenographer with
(i) 3 years service as Stenographer;
(ii) a typing speed of 50 w.p.m.;
(iii) a shorthand speed of 110 w.p.m.;
(iv) a pass in an in-service examination; and,
(v) a successful interview;
and direct with,
(vi) a Polytechnic Diploma in Executive
Secretarial Studies; or
(vii) 3 years approved experience;
(d) duties of Personal Secretary should be :
"Secretarial service either on an individual or shared basis to Directorate Officers on salary points D2 (DJL2) to D5 (DJL3) and to posts designated by the Secretary for the Civil Service, if appropriate on the advice of the Secretary for Security";
