2 On 4 February 1978, following a surveillance operation a private car was stopped in Juno Road, Kowloon City, by Narcotics Bureau officers. The driver and passenger reacted by attempting to throw a plastic bag out of the car window, however they were thwarted. Chinese males Lau Shum-fung (0497/7311/7374) and NGAN Chung-fei (7346/2646/6540) were arrested when the plastic bag was found to contain 3.3233 kilos of No 3 heroin. Both defendants have been committed to stand trial in the Supreme Court.

25 'Sticks' containing 3.3233 kilos of No 3 heroin were seized.
3 On 14 April 1978, after a protracted surveillance operation, Customs and Excise officers inter- cepted three Chinese males in a private car parked near the beach at Shek O. A search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of 8.9262 kilos of morphine and 7.85 litres of acetic anhydride. The three men CHAN Kai-kwong (7115/0796/0342), NG Mei (0702/1442) and NG Wu-mong (0702/3527/1811) have been jointly charged with 'Possession of Dangerous Drugs for the Purpose of Unlawful Trafficking', and 'Possession of Part I Poisons'.
4 Following the arrest an intensive search of the vicinity was mounted, this culminated in the discovery of an unnumbered stone hut belonging to CHAN Kiu-lam (7115/0829/2651). Within the hut a small quantity of acetic anhydride and some of the paraphenalia normally associated with heroin manufacture was discovered. CHAN Kai-lam (the father of CHAN Kai-kwong) was later charged with 'Possession of Acetic Anhydride', 'Possession of Part I Poison', and 'Possession of Dangerous Drugs for the Purpose of Unlawful Trafficking'. The case has been committed to the Supreme Court.

5 On 17 April 1978, acting upon information a party of Narcotics Bureau officers raided a suspected heroin packing centre located at 39 Pokfulam Road, ground floor, Western. Two persons were arrested inside the premises, they were Chinese male NG Kap-yan (0702/3946/0088) and Chinese female WONG PO-chun (7806/1405/3791). As the Police entered the female attempted to pour some of the drugs down an open drain in the kitchen. Eventually 0.5078 kilos of No 3 heroin was seized. Both defendants have been jointly charged with 'Possession of Dangerous Drugs for the Purpose of Unlawful Trafficking'. The case has been transfered to District Court and is pending trial.
