The report in paragraph 3 says "as a result of analysis of the inteligence gathered Chan was identified as the escort, Rita as the courier and Yip as co-ordinator and they were suspected to pick up certain quantity of narcotics in Bangkok for Europe. No information is provided as to the inteligence gathered nor of the analysis nor of the result of the analysis. report in paragraph 5 refers to investigations on the 21st March, 1977 at the ticket agency and as to search on the 20th March, 1977 of the flat where Rita had been working. Rita was not identified as having bought tickets. Inside Rita's room a telephone number 12-662118 was found written on a match box together with a marking of au foe (MAK) On the afternoon of the 21st March, 1977 Jenny from the ticket. dgenoy provided information that Khan Mun Sang beleived to be connected with Chan and Cheung went to the ticket

office and had bought a ticket fromHong Kong to Bangkok and then on to Athens. The investigations of Khan and Cheung indicated that Cheung was the same person wanted for an investigation under file INV/DD/77/4. Presumably D.D. again refers to dangerous drugs. investigations at the Airport followed with a result that on the 23rd March Khan left for Bangkok and Cheung for Taipai. states the movement of two members of the same sydicate on the same day appeared to be not insignificant". As a result there was an investigation conducted at Kai Tak Airport which produced information that Khan had left for Bangkok without luggage being checked in (therefore without luggage or with cabin luggage and Cheung together with a passenger known as Thung KH gono to Thai Poi with consecutive tickets issued by travel agents in Paris on the 17th March for a round trip to Taipai. Thung is identified as being of Chinese birth with a Hong Kong certificate of identity issued in 1975. The final paragraph of this report indicated that intelligence gathered it is suspicious that this trio might eventually meet in Bangkok for arrangement of a load of narcotics to Europe. Therefore the urgent telex was forwarded to the Royal Thai customs with pertinent information.

A memorandum from the Commissioner of Customs Hong Kong to the Commissioner of Police Hong Kong referring to the background to the case and identifying suspicions on Chan Rita and Yip and indicating that Chan had been stopped and searched "for a routine anti narcotics check" prior to his departure for Bangkok. This memorandum identifies suspicions of the following facts:- (a) all three obtained their tickets from the same source. (b) Chan, a roomboy by profession, had an extensive travel record to Bangkok and Europe.
