(d) Nightingale could not produce a return or onward ticket from Bangkok even though she had a confirmed booking from Bangkok to Paris which suggested to the author of the memorandum that the ticket would be given to her later either at the airport or on arrival at Bangkok.
This memorandum then refers to the telex between Hong Kong Thailand and Bangkok. This memorandum also refers to the question of Nightingale's
· conversation with Chan and Yip in Kai Tak Airport departure hall. This conversation is not mentioned in the report dated 31st March. The memorandum states "that the officers concerned could only recollect vaguely that Chan had made contact with a Caucasian and a Chinese man resembling Rita and Yip. The conversation appeared to have been brief and was not overheard. You will appreciate that the officers were at this time only maintaining a loose servailance from a distance and the crowded circumstances were such that a reconstruction of the scene is not possible." The memorandum refers to .
reference. to possible malpractice in the tip-off of Rita Nightingale (there was certainly a tip off). The question of mal-practice is not relevant at the present time.
