Negotiations are at present underway between the Secretary for the Civil Service and the Management Committee on the precise use to which the compensa- tion is to be put.

Fung Shui

The objectors have not explained how the proposed roadworks will have an ill effect on the fung shui of Lung Cheung Court. It is considered that there are no valid reasons for upholding this aspect of the objection since the lot is a formed site not a naturalioj hillside, and has no natural watercourses.

Environmental Considerations

... bebo

While there will be a loss of some 1, 923 m2 of wooded hill-slope; additional trees will be replanted by the Government along the lot's western boundary ⠀...... after completion of the new retaining wall. Inevitably, increasing traffic on Waterloo Road will lead to some increase in noise levels but there is no evidence to suggest that the level would be such as to cause -¡¡ discomfort to residents of Lung Cheung Court or that

there would be a marked rise in the level of air re pollution in the vicinity following completion of the ⠀

completion of the man jan proposed roadworks. The slope is a fill slope.Itrobrye sah has not been and could not be used for gardening vindmade H purposes, as claimed by the objectors, without

affecting its stability.

Pedestrian Safety be

It is not considered that the safety of anyone entering

1

Lung Cheung Court from Waterloo Road by means of the stairs adjoining the block nearest to the road would be endangered in any way due to the construction of a sharper curve in Waterloo Road at this point. On the contrary, the sharper curve would tend to slow traffic down generally while vehicles which did not slow down would be obliged to understeer the corner and would thus be thrown towards the outside of the bend away from the stairs. In addition, extra warning signs will be placed along Waterloo Road before the curve and crash barriers will be erected along the footpath on the bend.
