A copy of the letter of objection is at Annex C. The grounds for objection were not stated. The objectors' solicitors subsequently requested further information on the proposed roadworks, and this was supplied. They have since failed to respond to requests, to withdraw the objection.

For the reasons given in paragraphs 3(a) to (e) and 4 above, it is recommended that the objections from the Lung Cheung Court Management Committee and the joint-owners of New Kowloon Inland Lot No 917 Remaining Portion should not be upheld and that the proposed roadworks as illustrated on the plan at Annex A should be authorised without modification.

Apart from the claim of the Lung Cheung Court Management Committee mentioned in paragraph 3 above, no other claims for com- pensation under the Streets (Alteration) Ordinance were received within the statutory period.

Should Honourable Members advise authorisation of the proposed works, then, in accordance with the usual procedure, notification will be given in the Government Gazette and in the English and Chinese press, The Management Committee's claim will continue to be processed in the normal manner and compensation for the resumed land will be passed on to the Committee by the Colonial Treasurer Incorporated as proposed in paragraph 3(a) above.
