Inland Revenue Accountants

Mr. Banks asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will publish the number of qualified accountants employed in the revenue-collecting departments.

Mr. Robert Sheldon: The Inland Revenue employs 34 professional account- ants. In addition, about 2,300 inspectors of taxes are fully qualified in relevant accountancy matters.

Rhodesia (Sanctions)

48. Mr. Rhodes James asked the Sec- retary of State for Foreign and Common- wealth Affairs whether he will refer to Mr. T. H. Bingham, QC, for investiga- tion in the course of his inquiry into eva- sion of sanctions against Rhodesia, the allegations made in his recent book by Mr. Jorge Jardim, the former Portuguese Minister, about the role of the then British Government in the matter.

Mr. Rowlands: My right hon. Friend understands that Mr. Jorge Jardim has been co-operating with the Bingham in- quiry, and that the allegations in his recent book have thus been brought to the inquiry's notice.

Hong Kong

Mr. Nicholas Winterton asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Com- monwealth Affairs under what conditions United Kingdom citizens may enter Hong Kong.

Mr. Luard: Most United Kingdom citi- zens may enter Hong Kong without visas and stay initially for up to six months. They should have sufficient funds to cover their stay or evidence of employment in Hong Kong. In certain cases visas are required for stays of over three months or for employment.

Mr. Moyle: If the Pharmaceutical Ser- vices Negotiating Committee were to seek to rejoin the Whitley Council it would clearly be necessary for the two sides to agree a new constitution.
