Travelling and Baggage Allowance
7.
On first appointment only, teachers who travel by air are eligible for the grant of an allowance to assist with travelling and baggage expenses
and with the cost of initial outfit. The rate of allowance is :

Marriage of Women Teachers Employed on Overseas Terms

If
a) Married women are not eligible for employment from overseas
on contract, and the services of a woman teacher are
automatically terminated on the date of her marriage.
she wishes to continue in her appointment she may be
re-appointed on local terms of service.
(b) If a woman teacher married within the first year of a contract,
the school will be required to refund to Government the cost of outward passage as under paragraph 6 together with the cost of baggage and travelling allowance as under paragraph 7. If, however, she satisfactorily completes full duties for the first year of the contract period, the school will be
entitled to be reimbursed with the refund. If she completes
the second year of the contract she may be granted a homeward passage provided her husband is not entitled to a homeward passage allowance for his wife under his terms of service. (c) If the marriage takes place during the second year of a
contract and the teacher satisfactorily completes the full
duties for the contract period, she may be granted a homeward passage to her country of origin, provided her husband is not entitled to a homeward passage allowance for his wife under
his terms of service.
Teachers Employed on Overseas Terms prior to 1st April 1973
9.
The provisions of this appendix shall apply to teachers who were
employed on overseas terms under the Grant Code prior to 1st April 1973 as
and when their contracts are renewed. Such teachers may however, with the
approval of their school management committees and the Director, opt to
become subject to the provisions of this appendix prior to completion of
their present contracts. Where approval of such an option is given, the
teacher's contract shall be deemed to be varied in accordance with the
provisions of this appendix excluding paragraph 7.
