the teacher and his family. If the teacher resigns or has his contract terminated during the second year of the contract period the school will not be required to make such refund, and the teacher will be eligible for homeward passages, for himself and his family only if his resignation will not take effect until he has completed two academic years, thus fulfilling
his contract.
Passages and Leave
6.
(a) A teacher whose employment on overseas terms has been
approved by the Director will be provided by Government grant with an economy class air passage by a direct route (with or without stop-over en route) from his country of
origin to Hong Kong. Such a passage is referred to as a
"STANDARD PASSAGE" and will normally be by a British
airline. Similar passages will also be provided, where appropriate, for the teacher's wife, sons under the age of eighteen, and unmarried daughters under the age of
twenty-one, up to a maximum of five passages including
the teacher. A teacher who wishes to make his own
passage arrangements will be reimbursed with the cost of the actual passage or the cost TO GOVERNMENT of a standard economy class direct air passage, whichever is the less. Details of passage rates may be obtained from the Chief
Treasury Accountant, Education Department.
(b) At the expiry of a contract if the teacher is returning to
Hong Kong for renewal of contract, he will be provided by
Government grant with a standard economy class return air passage by a direct route between his country of origin and Hong Kong, provided that the booking is made before his
departure from Hong Kong. Similar return passages will also
be provided, where appropriate, for the teacher's family as specified in (a) above. A teacher who wishes to make his own passage arrangements will be reimbursed in accordance with the provisions of (a) above.
(c) A teacher whose contract upon satisfactory completion is not
being renewed will be provided by Government grant with a
standard economy class air passage to his country of origin.
Similar passages will also be provided, where appropriate for the teacher's family as specified in (a) above.
(d) Requests for grents for passages shou re submitted to the
Education Department on the form si.. at Appendix 26 not
later than the date prescribed by the Director each year.
