ADVICE TO OFFICERS TRAVELLING TO TAIWAN
.17.
Officers who have been given permission to
visit Taiwan should be informed that they must not make
any official or semi-official, contacts except for the
necessary purpose connected with their travel arrangements.
There is no representative of H.M.G. or the Hong Kong
Government in Taiwan; an officer in serious difficulty
may seek help from the American Embassy, in Taipei.
ADVICE TO OFFICERS TRAVELLING TO COMMUNIST COUNTRIES OTHER THAN CHINA AND YUGOSLAVIA

Officers who have been given permission to
visit any of the countries referred to in paragraph 8(b)
should be required to read the advice set out in Annex A
attached.
ADVICE TO OFFICERS TRAVELLING TO RHODESIA
19.
Officers who have been given permission to
visit Rhodesia should be informed that they must not make
any official or semi-official contacts except for the
necessary purposes connected with their travel arrangements.
FAILURE TO RETURN BY SPECIFIED DATE
20.
CIFIED
Immediately it becomes known that an officer
is overdue from a visit to any of the countries or
monsterritories listed in paragraph 1, a report should be

sent by the Head of Department to the Secretary for
Security, 'the Secretary for the Civil Service and the
Director of Special Branch. A further report should be
sent when the officer returns to Hong Kong.
