It is important also to settle on a name for the new department without too much delay, for the purposes of records, stamps, stationery etc. Since the Home Inspector did not pronounce on this point, so far as I can see, he might be asked to do so now. There appears to be no overriding objection to including "and General" in the title of more than one department of the FCO. This situation already exists with "Maritime and General Department" and "Gibraltar and General Department". And if "and General" is not used, the alternatives which make for · accuracy will inevitably also be of inordinate length.
