98. Following the receipt of information that a quantity of morphine had recently been imported through Hong Kong Airport and was available for sale on the illicit market, a Narcotics Bureau officer posing as a buyer was introduced to the morphine broker. Over the period of a week four meetings took place during which negotiations for the purchase of two blocks of morphine were completed.
99. On 9th December, 1976, the broker and his assistant were arrested in the Miramar Hotel, Kowloon, shortly after handing over the two blocks to the Narcotics Bureau officer. In a follow up raid a woman who had a attended the negotiations was arrested at her home in Nathan Road. The drugs seized comprised 3.156 kilogrammes of a mixture containing 2.563 kilogrammes of a salt of morphine.
The two '999' brand morphine blocks which were handed to a Narcotics Bureau
officer.
