53. On 9th February, 1976, acting on information, Preventive Service officers conducted a raid on a tenement flat in Waterloo Rd., Kowloon. A search of the flat revealed a secret compart- ment concealing an opium divan, inside which 3 Chinese males were arrested and later charged with Smoking A Dangerous Drug. A search of the compartment resulted in the discovery of a quantity of opium smoking paraphernalia, 18.5 grammes of prepared opium, and 879.6 grammes of a mixture containing 68.7 grammes of salts of esters of morphine. The principal tenant of the flat, Chinese female CHu Kwai-yung (2612/2710/1369) was arrested and charged with Possession Of Dangerous Drugs For The Purpose Of Unlawful Trafficking.
54. Follow-up investigations to this raid led to the discovery in a Carnarvon Rd. tenement flat of chemicals and equipment associated with the "cutting" of heroin, together with 1.9681 kilogrammes of a mixture containing 233.8 grammes of salts of esters of morphine and 1.3 litres of acetic anhydride. No arrest was made in connection with this seizure.
