details of this account and of the account holder. I did not

obtain such details. I made an examination of the Electoral

I examined the Telephone Directory which covers the Old Trafford

arca for the year 1971. Again there was no C.J.K. Cunningham

recorded in the Directory.

On 21/8/75 Hr. Mattress and I went to Bakewell, Derbyshire to Mational Westminster Bank and again to see the Manager. I saw him and gave him an account No.80698573 and I asked him if he would give me details from the account or the account holder. (Objection by fir. Hampton.) I did not receive such details. Failing y inquiries in United Kingdom I returned to Hong Kong and on 29/0/75 I

undertook further inquiries here in relation to the 2nd Accused. On

that day a Section 14 notice was served on 2nd Accused in his home. (Document shown to witness.) This is a copy of the document served on Mr. Thompson. (Exh. P8). Subsequently I received a reply to

that notice from Ir. Thompson.

He handed it in. (Document shown to witness.) This is the reply from Ir. Thompson dated 10th September. (Mr. Gunston objects to production of document in evidence.) (Document accepted in evidence as P.) On 19/9/75 I saw the 2nd Accused in his

home in the morning. lly purpose was to invite him back to office of

ICAC. He made a telephone call and asked if it was absolutely necessary.

I told him if he refused to come he would be arrested. He was cautioned

and arrested and taken to ICAC office. In ICAC office I showed him a

mumber of documents and asked him a number of questions. I do not

have record of the caution. I told him he was being arrested for

offences against Prevention of Bribery Ordinance. This conversation
