The main points of the foregoing report are as follows:

(a) the restrictions on development imposed by the

Temporary Restriction of Building Development (Pok Fu Lam and Mid-Levels) Ordinance were lifted with effect from 1st January 1975 to allow redevelopment to the extent permitted under existing lease conditions and within present planning controls. (Paragraph 3);

(b)

a number of traffic management measures have been devised for progressive application as traffic in the Pok Fu Lam corridor grows. (Paragraph 6);

(c) although the numbers of bus passengers on

China Motor Bus routes serving the Mid-Levels and Pok Fu Lam have continued to increase (following a general trend), car use has not dropped markedly. Further improvements to bus. services are being implemented and the moni- toring of trends will continue (paragraphs 7 and 8);

(d) progress on the planning of schemes to improve road links with Mid-Levels and Pok Fu Lam has been maintained. However, the timing of the commencement of these schemes is dependent on their priority in competition with other important highway schemes and with other calls on public funds. The earliest any of them can be completed in any case is 1977 under present programming most are not likely to be completed before 1978 or 1979. Currently planned highways improve- ment schemes can, therefore, be expected to produce little improvement within the next four years (paragraphs 9 and 10);

(e) the provision of private bus services by schools

and residential blocks and public light bus

services already serving both the Mid-Levels and Pok Fu Lam areas can be expected to expand to meet demand, Ferry services, however, are not likely to be able to serve the Pok Fu Lam area for some time to come (paragraphs 11(a), (b), (c);
