C. HOME ENVIRONMENT

The Prisoner's family has for four years occupied a small flat at No. 1907, Kam Shek House, 19/F., Ping Shek Housing Estate, Kowloon, paying a monthly rental of $137 including rates. The place is orderly maintained with simple furniture and it is not very crowded, as some family members got married and lived separately. Kitchen and toilet facility was adequate.

D. EDUCATION

The Prisoner had received a total of about 7 years of education, attaining a standard up to F. 1 at the United English College in 1967. He dropped out from schooling of his own accord and came out to work.

E. EMPLOYMENT

1. Apprentice barber for about a year at $150 p.m.

2. General worker at the China Light & Power Co. Ltd. for

about a year.

3. Skilled worker at China Light & Power Co., Ltd. for more

than a year at $850 p.m. up to 1972. He was dismissed after having a row with his supervisor.

4. Unauthorized hire-car driver for more than 2 years up to the

time of offence earning around $800 p.m.

F. ASSOCIATES

The Prisoner admitted he had become acquainted with some triad members but denied he had joined any triad society as member. He used to associate with people of all walks of life.

G. PERSONS INTERVIEWED & CONTACTED

1. LUI Leung, M/67 (The Prisoner's father)

The father expressed that the Prisoner was not a very bad son. On the contrary, he was found obedient at home and was rather willing to go to work. Since coming out to work he used to hand in about half of his earnings. The father never thought the Prisoner could have been involved in such a serious trouble. The father thought the Prisoner perhaps came to know some bad friends while working outside especially as a 'Pak-pai' driver recently.

2. LING Yee, F/58 (The Prisoner's mother)

The mother found the Prisoner not lazy or disobedient. fact, he showed much concern for his family especially for his younger sisters. He was not an aggressive or reckless person. felt sorry for his involvement in the present offence.
