Qualifying Period
Residence during last 5 years unless permanent resident.
In covered employment or a pensioner at his death.
Death during contributory service before attaining age 60 and a member of the Family Pension Scheme for not less than 2 years.
Deceased was a pensioner at death or had 5 years of con- tribution in the last 10 years including 90 days in the last
year.
6 months of insurance and
either employee or pensioner at death.
Benefit Rate or Formula
According to means, widow without children $21.50 per week, widow with a child over 6 years not an invalid $30.00, widow with a child under 6 years or an invalid $32.00. Orphans pensions (not subject to means test) of $10 per week in respect of orphans under age 16, or full time students under age 16. /12.
Lump sum of 6-12 months' earnings, according to number of years of work, reduced by 50% if not a trade union member. If a pensioner, 6-9 months pension. Lump-sum funeral grant of 2 months' earnings.
For survivors of members who joined the scheme at age 25 or earlier, between 12% and 15% of the last months full wages varying inversely according to wage classes subject to mini- mim and maximum of 40 and 150 rupees per month. In addition
a death grant of 1,000 rupees. (/13) Lower pensions and grants for later ages of entry.
Widow's pension of 50% of the pension of the insured with a minimum of 20% of insured's earnings; orphans' pension of 25% of the pension of the insured, or 50% if a full orphan, for each child under age 12 (or 21 if a student). For each dependant aged parent, 20% of the pension of the insured. Maximum survivors' pensions of 100% of the pension of the insured.
50% of the invalidity pension payable to the insured subject to a minimum (see Part B above).
