(b) Courtesy (working) visits. You will see from the attached letter that I have asked Mr. Cunnington to leave Wednesday, 23rd April, free for courtesy calls. We would very much like to pay courtesy-cum-working calls on yourself, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (presumably Mr. A.C. Stuart would be the best person to see), and the Anglo-Hong Kong Parliamentary Association. If these calls could be arranged on Wednesday, 23rd April, I would be most grateful. If, however, the 23rd proves impossible I would be grateful if you would contact Mr. Cunnington and let him know of a date between 21st and 25th April that such calls can be made so that he can arrange his programme around your arrangements.
appreciated.
Your help in arranging the above would be greatly
Whilst writing, I would mention that I have sent you (by sea mail) 1,000 copies of the latest edition of "Urban News" - the Council's and the Department's internal newspaper. You will recall our discussion on this in Hong Kong when you kindly agreed to despatch "Urban News" to certain organizations throughout the United Kingdom to ascertain whether or not there was a demand for regular circulation of the newspaper in the U.K. On our part, we agreed to pay for postage etc. if you informed us that a demand existed.
I look forward to hearing from you and, more particularly, to seeing you in London.
