On 20th August, 1973, officers of the Preventive Service raided a fiat in Hung Hom, Kowloon, The premises was searched and 150.81 kilogrammes of raw opium, 134.8 grammes of prepared opium and 15.8 grammes of opium dross were found. Enquiries failed to esta- blish ownership of the drugs and no arrest was made.

On 19th October, 1973, in conjunction with the raid re- ported at paragraph (4) above, officers of the Narcotics Bureau raided a flat at Hung Hom, Kowloon. A search of the premises was made and a large amount of No. 3 heroin was seized. A man, LI Shek- chi (2621/6932/2535), 52 years, and two women, LUNG Siu-king (7893/ 1421/8774), 47 years, and 550 Wai-hing (0674/1920/0615), 16 years, found in the premises were arrested. The total seizure was 2.331 kilogrammes of a mixture containing 0.9406 kilogrammes of salts of esters of morphine. The premises was being used as a storage/dis- tribution centre for the heroin refinery at No. 16 Yuet Wah Street (paragraph (4) refers). All arrested persons were jointly charged with Possession of Dangerous Drugs for the Purpose of Unlawful Traf- ficking. The case is still pending.

On 25th November, 1973, officers of the Narcotics Bureau raided a flat at Hung Hom, Kowloon. The premises were searched and quantities of No. 4 heroin, No. 3 heroin and barbitone were found. Two men, YEUNG Shiu-kwan (2799/3843/0689), 24 years, KWOK Loi (6753/ 0171), 23 years and a woman, TSOI Mo-chun (5591/1970/3791), 20 years, found on the promises were arrested. The total quantity of drugs seized was 7.0007 kilogrammes of a mixture containing 2.6891 kilo- grammes of salts of esters of morphine (No. 3 heroin), 465.5 grammes of a mixture containing 394.6 grammes of salts of esters of morphine (No. 4 heroin) and 1.31 kilogrammes of pure barbitone. All arrested persons have been jointly charged with Possession of Dangerous Drugs for the Purpose of Unlawful Trafficking. YEUNG was convicted and sentenced to 5 years imprisonment. No evidence was offered against KWOK and TSOI.

On 8th February, 1973, acting on information, officers of the Narcotics Bureau raided a travel service in Kowloon. A search was made of the premises and two packets of cannabis weigh- ing 3.52 grammes were seized. The owner of the travel service, a woman, CHUI Yeuk-sze (1776/2574/2448) was arrested and charged with Possession of Dangerous Drugs. She was convicted and fined $800.00-

On 12th April, 1973, 290.9 grammes of cannabis was handed over to Narcotics Bureau officers by the Deputy Purser of the s.s. 'ORONSAY', which had arrived in Hong Kong that day. The cannabis had been found behind a ventilation screen in the gentlemen's toilet during a routine maintenance check. Enquiries on board the ship failed to locate the owner of the drugs and no arrest was made.
