1. Further to my minute of 18 April about a UK-based S2 officer to work for the Hong Kong Affairs Counsellor at HM Embassy Bangkok, it has been suggested that our candidate be seconded to the Government of Hong Kong who have undertaken to pay all costs.
2. POD feel that it would be much simpler if this PA went under exactly the same conditions as her DS colleagues alongside whom she will be working in Bangkok, and the relevant sum claimed from the Hong Kong Government. There could then be no dispute about differing emoluments etc.
3. I should be grateful to know if you would agree to proceed on these lines. We hope to send someone to Bangkok about mid-June.
