others then entered the flat and after a short while CHENG

taking place and that one person rushed at him with a stool.

CHENG said that he was frightened and that he struck at that

person with an iron ruler. CHENG admitted pursuing a person into the telephone room in the flat and pushing the door down.

He then repeated his evidence about a person having a stool.

After awhile, he said, HO So-kuen called on everyone to leave,

which he did.

There was ample evidence to support a verdict of

guilty of murder.

11. (a) CHENG was 19 years of age at the time the offence

was committed.

(b) The death sentences imposed on two others (aged 18

and 20) involved in the murder were commuted on

26th March 1974 to sentences of imprisonment for

18 years.
