For the continuation of our anti-communist activities and in particular in order to help the people in our area to make a living by selling their only crop - opium, and to diminish the source of revenue of the rebel troops, we have to maintain our Division at Burmese $1,400,000 odd per month including the replenishment of ammunition. On this question of expenses, the Burmese government is considering means to help solve the problem whereby the people of Kwo Kam (

can respond to the international appeal for narcotics control. The people of Kwo Kam(果 Kam (*) and their leader law Sing Hon are greatly moved by the appeal made by President Nixon in 1971. However, discon- tinuation of opium-growing without substitution crops will put both the 630,000 people and 4,000 odd armed troops in extreme difficulties. They are prepared to play their part if they are given suitable relief and aid.
