The future rôle of nuclear power. The methodology and results of the IAEA nuclear power market survey in 14 developing countries. The development of power production and the probable requirements for nuclear power in developing countries and in particular in the ECAFE region.

Methodology of a nuclear power survey. Planning future.eleotricity-generating system expansion including nuclear power plants. Economic com- parison of conventional and nuclear generating plants.

Nuclear power project evaluation and pre-purchasing activities. Nuclear power plant feasibility studies. Selection of site and reactor plant types. Review of present status of proven reactor concepts and their associated fuel oyoles. Prequalification of suppliers.

Purchasing of nuclear power plant. Type of supply contract. Preparation of tendering documents. Technical and economio evaluation of bids. Influence of terms of financing. Warranties. Local participation.

Organizational and regulatory requirements. Organizational functions needed within national authorities. Regulatory requirements for nuclear power plants. Staff and training requirements and costs and principles for staff selection.

Experience with nuclear power programmes and individual projects within the area.

Administrative and Financial Arrangements

Following consideration of nominations received by 15 September 1973 Governments will be informed of the names of selected candidates.

In accordance with the arrangements for the course, the selected candidates will be provided with:

(a) A daily subsistence allowance in accordance with the

rates set by the United Nations Development Programme;

(b) The full cost of round-trip economy-olass air travel.

For the duration of the course the IAEA will at its expense enroll participants in a Health Insurance Scheme, under conditions of which participants will receive separate information.
