1 Would you please refer to my letter of even reference dated 14 July concerning difficulties which some Hong Kong ship owners have had with ships registered under flags of convenience.
2 It has been pointed out to me that the penultimate sentence of paragraph 5 of my letter may be ambiguous. In case you are in doubt as to its meaning, this would have been better worded as follows :-
"The International Shipping Federation is
meeting the IP on 1 August and will attempt to persuade the latter to alter their definition of a flag of convenience ship so that it relates to ships operated from flag of convenience countries as against the current definition of an FOC ship as being that of a ship owned by a company other than a company registered in the country of the flag."
