There seems to be some difficulty in finding a legal adviser who can attend this meeting proposed for Monday, 18 September or Wednesday, 20 September. principle I have no objection to attending, but at the moment I cannot say for certain whether I shall be free. The problem is that further stages of the European Communities Bill will probably be taken in the House of Lords that week, and briefing meetings, or other work, in connection with the proceedings in the House of Lords are likely to be arranged only at short notice. If I am summoned to a meeting in that connection it will have to take priority over the present matter. So far as I am concerned I am quite content to be put down for attending the meeting proposed, so long as nobody would mind if at the last moment I had to drop out.
