V. The subjects or citizens of either of the 2 Contracting Par- ties in the territories of the other, shall be exempted from all compulsory military service what- ever, whether in the army, navy, or national guard or militia. They shall also be exempted from all contributions, whether pecuniary or in kind, imposed as a compensation for personal service, as well as from military requisitions, with the exception of lodging and supplies, accord- ing to the custom of the country, and demandable alike from citi- zens and foreigners, for the military on a march.

VI. No other or higher duty, tax, impost, or charge, either in time of peace or in time of war, shall, under any circumstances, be imposed or levied upon, or in respect of, any property held by a subject or citizen of one of the 2 Contracting Parties in the territories of the other, than is or may be imposed or levied upon, or in respect of, the like property belonging to a subject or citizen of the country, or to a subject or citizen of the most favoured nation.

Nor shall any other tax or demand whatever be imposed or levied upon a subject or citizen of either of the Contracting Par- ties in the territories of the other Contracting Party, other or higher than is or may be

Ils seront également exempts de toute prestation pécuniaire ou matérielle imposée par compen- sation pour le service personnel, tout comme des réquisitions mili- taires, excepté pour le logement et les fournitures pour le mili- taire en passage, selon l'usage du pays, et à demander également. aux citoyens et aux étrangers.

VI. En temps de paix, comme en temps de guerre, il ne pourra, dans aucune circonstance, être impose ou exigé pour les biens d'un sujet ou d'un citoyen de l'une des 2 Parties Contractantes dans les territoires de l'autre, des taxes, droits, contributions, ou charges plus forts qu'il n'en serait imposé ou exigé pour la même propriété, si elle appar- tenait à un sujet ou à un citoyen du pays, ou de la nation' la plus favorisée.

Il est d'ailleurs entendu qu'- aucun impôt ni taxe, quelque ce soit, ne sera perçu ni demandé d'un sujet ou citoyen de l'une des 2 Parties Contractantes qui se trouve dans les territoires de l'autre Partie, qui soit autre ou
