will come into line with similar Missions which
have already undergone such a process.
Many of the factors applying to India have also
been pertinent to Pakistan. With the crisis
in East Pakistan it is impossible to foresee what
lies in the future, although it seems certain
that India will emerge with an enhanced relative
importance as far as British interests are
concerned.
The changes in information activity already
mentioned were tailored, of course, to a pre-
Bangla Desh situation. In the present uncertain
circumstances we can only assume for our purposes
that our presence in Pakistan will remain at the
present (revised) level and make provision
accordingly.
