(i) Operational

Information activities in Ceylon have undergone

a considerable process of voluntary attrition

over the last 2 or 3 years. They have probably

now reached a stage where further major reduction

would be self-defeating.

The Post is to be inspected later this year.

(ii) Future Developments

With the unexpected landslide victory of the

United Front in May 1970, and the insurgent

action launched by the JANATA VIMUKTHI PURAMUNA

in april of this year, Ceylon has undergone a

major change of circumstances. Information work

has so far not been affected, however.

(iii) British Council and BBC

British Council are very active in Ceylon.
