The important improvements could be listed as follows:

1. Increased Korb Space And Check-In Facilities On Departures (1st) Floor

The check-in desks have been incroased in number and are now all in

front positions, i.o. facing the front doors. The doors and kerb space have

boon more than doubled.

2. Now Airside Departure Hall At 1st Floor Levol

Thọ new hall was opened for use on March 26, 1970. Passengers ney

now procend through any departure door at any time prior to departure. This

arrangement is designed to eliminato crowds blocking the single departure gato

used previously.

Ability to check through Immigration carly helps to prevent long

quouos at Immigration dosks, which often happens when the flight is 'called'.

Another improvement is the fact that Immigration desks are now in a

single bank of 14 desks; this makes for improved utilisation of Immigration

staff.

Previously there were 11 desks on two separate sides of the building.

This often meant there were queues on one side while the opposite side were

unemployed.

3. New Pior For Large Aircraft (With Connecting Pier)

The now pier, which will initially provide nose-in parking for two

large aircraft such as 747s, will be completed with three bridges for each

aircraft. These bridges connect three doors of the aircraft with the pier.

The bridges, which are of course adjustable at the aircraft ond to

accommodate various types of aircraft, are also adjustable at the pior end.

For departures the bridge is connected to the upper level and for

arrivals to the lower level of the pior.
