During #ilford's visit to Hong Kong last

month he spoke to Denys Roberts about this matter

and handed him a copy of a letter (with one of

its enclosures) which he had received from R.F.G.

Dennis, a Director of Rediffusion International

Ltd. I attach copies of the correspondence in

question.

You will see that the enclosure to Dennis'

letter is the draft of an undertaking which

Rediffusion would be prepared to offer to the Hong

Kong Government in exchange for the latter's

abandoning the features in the proposed copyright

legislation to which the Company have taken exception.

Denys Roberts' first reaction was that the idea

of the proposed undertaking might well be helpful

and he undertook to have a look at it and let us

know his views. We have not yet heard from him on

the subject and I thought it as well to send you this

further copy of the undertaking and to enquire whether
