last 12 months and at least eight more already booked for 1970. These include Missions from Chambers of Commerce

Westminster, in London, Birmingham, Sheffield,/Glasgow and Merseyside and from a number of Trade Associations the Lighting Industry Federation, the National Wool Textile Export Corporation, the National Children's Wear Association, British lienswear Guild, the British Lectrical & Allied Kanufacturers Association, the Designers & Art Directors

the British Footwear Federation, Association,/the Export Council for thé Gift Industry and the Nottingham Export Association. In May, Hong Kong will be host to the Biennial Congress of the Federation of Commonwealth Chambers of Commerce.

Several of these Missions have already visited Hong Kong before and their return visit is evidence of the value they attach to this market. Those which have already been to Hong Kong have all departed highly satisfied with the results obtained, having done business often running into half a million pounds sterling for a single Mission.

It is difficult to pick out specific British products which are likely to sell better than others, as virtually anything (except perhaps agricultural machinery, Hong Kong having only some 50 square miles of agricultural land) will sell in Hong Kong if the price is right and it is properly marketed. However, it is safe to say that with the increasing shortage of labour in Hong Kong and its rapidly expanding industry, many types of machinery and machine tools, especially of the technologically more sophisticated kinds, are in ever greater demand. Likewise, with the rapidly rising standard of living in Hong Kong and the increasing numbers of tourists mainly Americans and Japanese - visiting the Colony, (some million last year) consumer goods of all kinds find a ready market here.
