Dear McClurey
The Minister of Defence for Administration, Mr. Hattersley, is intending to visit the Far East from the 25th October 10th November in order to acquaint himself with the problems connected with the future of the Gurkhas, the Hong Kong Garrison and the Far East rundown. He intends to be in Nepal 27th 30th October, Hong Kong 30th October - 2nd November, Singapore 2nd 6th November and Kuala Lumpar 6th/7th November.

I would be most grateful if you would seek the Foreign and Commonwealth Secretary's approval to this visit as early as possible in view of the tight time scale.
