Tipper
Leyland exhibits include the Albion Chieftain Super Six tipper, powered by a Power-Plus 0.370 six cylinder high-speed diesel engine developing 106 b.h.p. at 2,200 rev min or a 0.400 engine which has a larger power output for heavier loads, pro- ducing 125 b.h.p. at 2.400 rev min.
The Chieftain Super Six, which is of a 7-tonner design, has a 14 in. hydraulically operated clutch and five- speed gearbox. with an optional overdrive ratio. a heavy-duty hub- reduction rear axle. powerful air operated hydraulic brakes and a re- circulatory ball type variable ratio steering which greatly reduces the effort required to manoeuvre a fully laden vehicle.
The hub reduction rear axle, as well as reducing torque transmitted by the axle shafts, reduces the stress in the crown wheel and pinion.
Front and rear springs are specially designed to give a comfortable ride irrespective of load and road surfaces and are of the semi-elliptic type in silico and manganese steel.

Steel door
Among the metal doors and windows shown by Crittall-Hope is the Com- pound door which is designed for in- ternal ог external use in low-cost housing. It is constructed from close- annealed steel sheet and is available in a standard size of 0.6936m. wide by 2.002m. high.
Another exhibit is the Module 4 steel window with a hot dip galvanis- ed finish. This range is based on the 4 in. module: heights increase by two modules and widths by three modules.
Its side hung ventilator is hung on adjustable friction hinges which pre- clude the need for a peg stay. The gap between the open on ventilator and outer jamb enables the window to be easily cleaned from within the building.

Asphalt plants
Asphalt plants featured by Aveling- Barford range in sizes and capacities. from 30 tons an hour to 160 tons an hour. The plants are designed and built to permit one man control of mixing and drying operations through a fully automatic sequenced electrical circuit, and provid-
ed the raw material feed rate is main- tained adequately, the plant will cycle at the maximum rate of output throughout the day.
Maximum out- puts are calculated on a 45 second cycle of operation.
Conspa plastic spacer
the tapered end of the centre agent, and
turned with a spanner. This breaks the bond of the concrete and the cone is easily retrieved.
Also on display is a plastic spacer, used solely to space formwork. Any type of bolt can be passed through this spacer to tie the formwork in. In operation it is fixed to the formwork and the opposing formwork placed in position, (this does not have to be pre- bored) an auger bit is then inserted into the bore through the spacer, and a hole bored in the opposing form- work. This allows any type of bolt to pass through and tie the formwork in.

These plants are widely used for the surfacing of heavy duty roads, motorways and air field runways under all types of climatic conditions. They are built in various models, i.e. fixed, transportable or fully portable. Aveling-Barford (N.Z.) Ltd.. Haig Street. Upper Hutt.

Formwork spacers
For use in the erection of concrete walls and beams, the Conspa form- work spacer is made of high tensile and free cutting steel of 9,900 lb. tensile strength.
All parts are retrievable from the concrete after it has set. The Con- spa consists of a centre agent, two cones and one tying-in rod fixed to one side of the formwork with the ap- propriate length centre agent.
The opposing formwork is then placed in position. having been pre- bored.
The other tying-in rod is then connected. Whalers etc. are then placed in position, bolts tightened up and the formwork ready to receive concrete, with no shavings or wooden spacing pieces to remove from the cavity. After the formwork has been stripped and the cones exposed, a key is inserted into the cone which is at

WHOJE:
The Big Chief compact tractor has been specially designed for use where a larger tractor would be both un- suitable and uneconomical.
It is available in two models, name- ly the 10 h.p. electric start Kholer engine and the 7 h.p. Briggs & Strat-
