The new scheme will enable the run-off from catchments on the Sai Kung peninsula to be collect- ed by intakes from the natural stream beds. Only water surplus to local agriculture and domestic re- quirements will be collected in this way and carried through a complex tunnel system to the new reservoir.

The main tunnel in the system will link High Island reservoir to the Sha Tin treatment works where the water will be delivered for purification and distribution.

Meanwhile, proposals for raising Plover Cove dam to boost its capacity from 37,000 million to 51,000 million gallons and for increasing the filtra- tion and pumping capacities of the plant required to handle the additional water were approved by Gov- ernment and included in the Public Works Program- me following a consultants report in April 1968.

Homes for another 3,000 people

About 3,000 people will have homes when an- other two blocks for the new Pak Tin Resettlement Estate in Sham Shui Po, Kowloon, Hong Kong, is completed.

The Mark VI domestic blocks will be eight storeys high and included in the plans are a two- storey restaurant and a kindergarten. Construction is expected to start in September and will take about one year to complete.

The new estate, estimated to cost at HK$55,- 700,000, is the fourth in the area. When fully developed, it will house more than 70,000 peo- ple.

Hong Kong Expo '70 interior contract signed

The final contract for the interior of the Hong Kong Government Pavilion at Expo '70 was signed last month between government officials and Hong Kong Industrial (Woodwork) Co. Ltd., the contractor.

Like the other two sections of the interior of the pavilion, all the items have to be completed and fully inspected and passed before delivery to the Government Supplies Department not later than October 16.

The Supplies Department is at present reserving up to 70,000 cu. ft. of shipping space for transport- ing all the interiors and many other items at the end of October direct to Japan.

This shipment, which will be the major consign- ment from Hong Kong, will include everything to complete the pavilion.

Kodak joins Expo '70

A striking six-sided glass tower will highlight Kodak's 'Golden Picture Pavilion' at Expo '70 to be held in Japan next year.
