through ventilation.

As the buildings occupy a com- manding position easily visible from the harbourside as

well as from

Magazine Gap Road, all the eleva tion treatments are of equal impor- tance. The problem that taxed the architect most in his design of the elevations was the drying areas. How to conceal them? In block B, this has been done by arranging the drying racks in the core of the servants' quarters, and providing a lantern light cover above, thus weather proofing the area and at the same time allowing, by the employ- ment of sun-ray angles, maximum ventilation for drying. This drying well separates the servants' quarters from the principal parts of the flats. General contractor: Hsin Heng Construction Co.
