ESTORIL COURT ESTATE IN FINAL STAGE
THE

HE second and final stage in the development of Estoril Court. one of the most outstanding residen- tial estates in Hong Kong, is now under way.
To block A. with its 42 flats. which was opened last year. blocks B and C are to be added. to bring the total number of apartments up to 120. Owners are the New Estate Co. Ltd.
The new blocks will be 10 storeys high. Block B will have 40 flats. 30 of two bedrooms and 10 of three bedrooms; block C will consist of 30 flats of two bedrooms.

The second stage is scheduled to be completed by November.
The two additional structures are to be of reinforced concrete bearing wall construction. The visual advan- tage of this will be found in the interiors, where the finish will be improved by the absence of cumber- some beams and columns.
A feature of the living room of cach apartment will be sliding aluminium doors. These will give an unbroken wide-angle panorama of the harbour from the balcony, and more important. the balcony itself will be free from the obstruc- tion caused by ordinary swing doors.

The design of the balcony is noteworthy. It will be a projection bounded by an 18 in. high R.C. parapet cum bench surmounted by a 24 in. high aluminium balustrade to provide maximum visibility of the harbour from the living room. It will also be an "antidote" for persons prone to acrophobia.
Specially designed inclined terra- cotta egg-crates will be used for the screens to maintain the privacy of each balcony and at the same time give the necessary through ventila.
