THE

▲ Jesselton's Queen's Elizabeth Hospital, completed in 1957, was built with the aid of a Colonial Development and Welfare Grant from the British Governent. The architects for the hospital were Palmer and Turner of Singapore, on behalf of the North Borneo Government, and the contractors were Messrs. China Construction Co. (Borneo) Ltd.

Custom House, Jesselton. The office of the headquarters of the North Borneo Trade & Customs Department, and the Jesselton Customs officials, this building was completed and occupied in early 1961. Construction was by Jesselton contractor Yap Shui and the design was by the Architects' Branch of the Public Works Department, North Borneo, L. Jackson, B. Eng., M. I. C. E., M.I. W. E., Director of Public Works. The building is decorated entirely in shades and combinations of black and white.
