a structure which, though restricted in size, will be of a character commeasurate with the spirit of the congrc- gation. The floor area will be approximately 7,000 square feet and the seating capacity about 800.

In preparing several designs for the consideration of his clients, the architect, Mr. Wing G. Chan, explored the possibilities of various styles of architecture, striving to extract from the features of each style those elements which most effectively express the dignity and grace usually associated with a church building.

We reproduce on these pages three of his designs, one a modern Gothic design the style from which most ecclesiastical structures derive their being, the second, a frankly modernistic structure, and the third, the one which at the present time is most favoured by the Church officers for the structure to be erected, is of the colour- ful Spanish Mission style, modified and adapted to its local environment. While retaining all the dignity and austerity of line expressed by long narrow recessed win- dows and squareness of surface masses, it introduces the narrow carved stone balcony balustrading, the tex- tured plastering and the red tile sloping roof which pro- vides the touch of colour and cheerfulness that is the

relieving feature of this American style.

There are several unusual features in the planning of this building which does credit to the originality of the architect and which should add greatly to the pleasure and convenience of the congregation. In the first place,
