A church building is one of the visual manifestations of a community's culture and the visible expression of its spiritual interest. It is a poor community indeed that cannot boast of churches that have manifestly been de- signed to express the interests, the devotion, the con- fidence and the hopes of their congregations in their own and civic affairs.
In a Colony as cosmopolitan as Hong Kong where practically every race, nationality and creed is repre- sented but in relatively small groups, it cannot be expected that sufficient funds could be available for any except the few larger congregations wherewith to erect structures which are imposing either in size or appoint-
ments.
