It was announced that Goverument has now approved the appointment of a twelve-man committee, under the chairmanship of the Hon. D. Benson, to advise on the layout and use of the Causeway Bay Reclamation Scheme.
Consisting of four official members and eight non-official members, the committee will now be in a position to meet and pool their knowledge aud suggestions in order that the clamation shall be of the utmost bene- fit to all and a credit to the Calony's modernisation plans.

A description of the new wholesale fish market, being erected at the western end of the picturesque fishing village of Aberdeen, is given in to day's South China Morning Post. This market is to replace the existing one at Kennedy Town, It will cost about $370,000.00.

A progress report of the Rating and Valuation Department states that
the new valuation of tenements in Colony for the year commencing April 1, 1952, is to be made.
Inland Lot No. 2411 section (', block of 24 flats situated behind Tin Hau Temple Road at Causeway Bay, was auctioned by Messrs. Lammert Bros., bringing $600,000. The property was sold by order of the mortgagee and bidding started at $450,000. purchaser was Mr. Li Che-hoo, and Messrs. (', Y. Kwan & Co, acted for the Mortgagee.

The names of three former Directors of Public Works have been given to three new roads on flougkong Island, it was announced in the Gazette. The Directors concerned are Mr. T. L. Perkins (1921-23), Mr. H, Cressy (1923- 32) and Mr. R. M. Henderson (1932- 39).

the Matilda and War Memorial Hos pital on Mount Kellett, was officially opened for the admission of patients. A gift of £50,000 by an anonymous donor and another of $200,000 by the Hongkong and Shanghai Bank, both in memory of the Bank's late Chief Manager, Sir Vandeleur Grayburn, who died during imprisonment by the Japanese, has resulted in a renovated and enlarged hospital on The Peak which can boast of the best equipped X-Ray and Physiotherapy Department in the Far East. 8th August
A prominent
Hongkong architect, Mr. Desmond E. Hindmarsh, 38, was found dead in his bed in the Houg- koag Club this morning. He was a member of the firm of Leigh and Orange.

Work on the huge reclamation pro- ject at Causeway Bay is scheduled to commence to-day.

Details are given of the new Cus- toms Station to be erected at Fanling. This building costing $164,000.00 will be situated a few yards from Fanling Crossroads ou the road to Shataukok. 13th August
It is estimated that the new eleven storey Shamrock Hotel building, situ- ated On Nathan Road near Jordan Road, will be completed in about four months' time. The architeet is Mr. Y. C. Mok. 14th August
The Hongkong Realty & Trust Co., Ltd., aunounced that the Board of Directors had decided to recommend to the forthcoming Annual General Meeting the payment of a dividend of 15 cents per share, free of corpora- tion profits tax, in respect of the year ended April 30, 1951.

In order to relieve their housing shortage, the Army are planning to build in the Sek Kong (Kam Tin) area of the New Territories, temporary married quarters for about 20 officers and 180 other ranks. 17th August
