The new post of Calligraphist is required for the writing of Chinese documents; it is offset by the reduction of 1 post of District Watchman. 1 post of clerk, employed in connection with the Tenancy Inquiry Bureau, Kowloon, is transferred from the supernumerary to the permanent establishment. 2 additional posts of Typist, 1 for Head Office and 1 for the Kowloon branch office, are required to deal with the increas- ing volume of work.

The net increase of $3,500 under Other Charges Annually Recurrent is due to increased rental in respect of rented accommodation.
