Of the new posts, 10 Nursing Auxiliaries (offset by the reduction of 4 Welfare Assistants Class II) are for the new Children's Reception Centre. The remainder are provided to meet increased commit- ments in various sections of the Department and are offset in some cases by the posts listed above as deleted.

Under Other Charges Annually Recurrent, the overall decrease of $293,500 is due to a reduction in the provision under the "Relief and Public Assistance" vote, although increases in other subheads are included to meet an increase in administrative work and welfare services.

Items under Special Expenditure include provisions of $2,700 for an intercommunication system at the Castle Peak Boys' Home, and of $7,500 in connexion with the Social Work Training Consultants' Programme which is scheduled for completion by June, 1964.
