The additional post of Computer is provided for radioactivity monitoring; and that of Scientific Officer (supernumerary) for hydrology and rainfall studies.

Under Other Charges Annually Recurrent the increase of $125,300 is mainly due to the increased

cost of the Cable and Wireless services and Upper Air Investigation.

Under Special Expenditure, a provision of $34,200 is included under Time Signal equipment to replace obsolete equipment in the Colony Time Service. Provision of $41,600 is also included in the subhead "Cable and Wireless stores" to cover the purchase of certain spare parts under the terms of a revised agree- ment with the Company covering the provision of technical services.
