The additional staff is required to cope with an increasing volume of work of the department.
Fire Prevention Bureau Division
The additional staff is provided to meet the increase in documentation work of the Bureau.
Operational and Fire Boats Division
The changes in respect of launch crew posts noted above and in the Estimates for this Head reflect a revision of the various grades which was approved during 1963-64; no additional posts are involved. 189 additional posts in the Fireman grades were approved by Special Warrant during 1963-64
to enable adjustments to be made in working hours.
The remaining additional posts are provided for new appliances and to meet the increased volume of work in the various offices.
