6 additional posts of Health Inspector are provided under this Division by transfer from Head- quarters as a result of the reallocation of posts within the department.
1 post of Foreman Class I is required for supervision of staff engaged on maintenance work in public parks and playgrounds and 1 (non-pensionable) post for a second shift at the Kennedy Town by- products plant; 1 Foreman Class II is provided to assist the Inspector in charge of the Ma Tau Kok Slaughter- house.
The remaining additional staff are to meet increasing commitments.
Under Other Charges Annually Recurrent, a net increase of $132,300 is shown due to expanding activities. Decreases have been made under the Fuel, light and power, Casual labour and Uniforms and accoutrements for disciplined staff votes in the light of actual expenditure over the last few years.
Under Special Expenditure, the provision for new vehicles (other than revotes and replacements) includes $120,000 for 4 meat delivery vans, $56,500 for 1 3-ton lorry and 3 15 cwt. pick-up vans, $503,500 for 5 refuse collecting vehicles, 2 prime movers and 6 trailers, $100,000 for 2 street washing vehicles and $45,000 for 1 water wagon. The other items are self-explanatory.
