WATER WORKS.
Sub-head 75.-Distributing water mains, $20,000. This vote is necessary for water- works extensions required to meet the rapid development of Kowloon.

PORT WORKS.
76.-Cheungshawan, construction of Rubble Mound to retain materials dumped, $30,000. This precautionary work is necessary in order to prevent dumped material silting up the harbour.
77.—Sham Shui Po Ferry Pier, $15,000.-Required to replace the existing
ferry pier which is old and unsuitable for present conditions.
PUBLIC HEALTH AND BUILDINGS ORDINANCE.
78.-Compensation and Resumptions, $50,000.-This vote is necessary for the acquisition of buildings and land necessitated by the Town Planning layout of New Kowloon, and for the new alignment and widening of existing streets. It is very desirable to resume vacant land rather than wait until buildings have been erected.

BUILDINGS.
79.-School at Un Long, $30,000.-The construction of this school build- ing has been rendered necessary owing to the old school building (rented) becoming unsafe. The school contains five class rooms for 30 pupils each, teachers rooms, cloak rooms, etc. and with caretakers quarters adjoining.
80.-Quarters for Forestry Reserve, Taipo, $2,500.-The new quarters will provide accommodation for four single men in the Taipo district
GENERAL WORKS.
81.-Roads, $2,000.-Necessary in connection with developments at Tai
Po Market and Un Long.
82.-(a) Drainage Training Nullahs, $3,000.--Necessary for the gradual
improvement of Tai Po residential area.
(b) Drainage: Miscellaneous Drainage Works, $3,500.-Necessary in connection with development at Tai Po Market and Un Long.
83.-Miscellaneous, $4,000.-Necessary for small unforeseen works and expenditure that may become necessary during the course of the year.
84.-Water Works, $1,000.—For general extension and improvement.
