The market was uncertain.

COTTON: There was some December liquidation, while buyers were less aggressive, Hedging and foreign selling of later positions were additional factors for easiness, but Trade support on the scale down was evident. RUBBER:

..

December liquidation was readily absorbed and there is some evidence of continued dealer and factory support.

WHEAT: No indication of moisture in the drought sections continues to attract attention, and is causing the steadiness of the market. There is a better Trade demand for cash.

CORN: A better seeding is reported. The Trade is hopeful of a good export demand, Country interests are holding for advances and the tendency is moderately bullish.

.:

HIDES: The Trade absorbed the recent heavy sales of Actuals and the technical position of Futures has shown much improvement. We would favour purchase during period of December liquidation.

NEW YORK STOCKS: Previous close, 148.47; Today's ́close, 148.64; Change, up .17.
